Libyan Prime Minister Osama Hammad recently visited Derna to inspect the progress of a large-scale housing project designed to provide homes for residents who lost their dwellings in a catastrophic flood. The project, which has been stalled since 2011, is now nearing completion with significant advancements.
The initiative includes the completion of 40 existing buildings and the construction of 37 new ones, all tailored to meet high living standards. This development is part of a broader effort to ensure that the citizens of Derna have access to quality housing.
The visit was attended by several notable figures including Deputy Prime Ministers Ali Al-Qatrani and Salem Al-Zadma, as well as key ministers and local officials. Among them were Engineer Abulqasim Haftar, General Director of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, and Major General Issam Bouzriba, Minister of the Interior.
The completion of the housing units marks a crucial step in Derna’s recovery and redevelopment efforts, highlighting the government’s commitment to rebuilding and providing essential services to its citizens.
