The Security Directorate of Ajdabiya, Libya, announced the seizure of a significant quantity of fuel intended for smuggling.

In a statement shared on its Facebook page, the directorate reported that its Criminal Investigation Department had gathered intelligence about a storage tank filled with fuel inside a local resident’s home. Following the lead, authorities raided the premises and confiscated the fuel.

The directorate issued a warning against the illegal storage of fuel, emphasising that violators would face legal accountability and prosecution.

Fuel smuggling remains a serious issue in Libya, exacerbating the country’s ongoing economic challenges. Authorities have intensified efforts to clamp down on smuggling networks and prevent the misuse of subsidised resources.

The operation in Ajdabiya reflects the broader campaign by Libyan authorities to enforce stricter measures on fuel management and curb illegal activities that destabilise the local market.
