On Wednesday, the spokesman for the Libyan National Army (LNA), Maj. Gen. Ahmed Al-Mismari, said that their forces have complied with previous UN resolutions and calls for a political solution to the crisis in Libya.

In a press conference, Al-Mismari added that the LNA welcomed the ‘Cairo Declaration’, which aimed to resolve the conflict and reach a ceasefire. He confirmed that they believed in a political solution to end the crisis, but were also prepared for any possible military confrontation.

Al-Mismari stated that LNA forces were on high alert to liberate the country from militias, terrorists, and foreign interference in the country. The LNA spokesperson concluded that the General Command had restructured its operations room and frontlines, adding that they have provided Sirte with modern weapons, radars, and air defenses to foil any attempt to capture the city.

In separate statements, the LNA’s chief of staff for naval operations, Major-General Faraj Al-Mahdawi, said that they now have the capability to destroy any ship up to 100 km from the Libyan coast. Speaking to Al-Arabiya.net, Al-Mahdawi pointed out that Turkish naval vessels in Libyan waters would be the primary targets.
