Libya’s Minister of Health of the Parliament-designate government, Osman Abdel Jalil, announced the official launch of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, marking a significant shift in the country’s healthcare system.
During a meeting in Cairo with Egypt’s General Authority for Healthcare chairman, Ahmed El-Sobky, the implementation steps for this strategic project were discussed. The initiative aims to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to Libyan citizens.
The minister emphasized that the project is designed to ensure high-quality healthcare access for all citizens. He also highlighted the ministry’s commitment to working closely with the Egyptian Healthcare Authority to implement the project in line with global best practices.
El-Sobky praised the collaboration between Libya’s Health Ministry and Egypt’s Healthcare Authority, noting that Egypt would provide advanced infrastructure and integrated management systems to support the success of the project.
The meeting addressed implementation plans, strategies to expand healthcare coverage, and mechanisms to overcome challenges in the current phases. The discussions aimed to create a sustainable healthcare model to meet Libya’s long-term needs.
The Comprehensive Health Insurance Project is considered a cornerstone for sustainable development in Libya’s healthcare sector. It seeks to achieve social equity by delivering inclusive medical services that meet the needs of all Libyans.
