Ageela Saleh, Speaker of Libya’s House of Representatives, announced that the parliament is working on a comprehensive national reconciliation law, describing it as a “positive step toward unity and cohesion.”

In his remarks, Saleh criticised the government of Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba, accusing it of actions that foster division and instability by supporting militias disrupting the peace in Tripoli.

The statement was delivered during a meeting on Tuesday with Denis Sassou Nguesso, President of the Republic of Congo and head of the African Union High-Level Committee on Libya. The event also included Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, and Osama Hammad, Prime Minister designated by the parliament.

Saleh highlighted the parliament’s efforts, including forming the 6+6 Joint Committee with the High Council of State, which drafted presidential and parliamentary election laws subsequently welcomed by the United Nations Security Council.

He urged the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to play a more effective role in resolving the political crisis, while firmly rejecting foreign interference.

Saleh reiterated the necessity of a Libyan-led solution grounded in national unity and called for presidential and parliamentary elections to reflect the will of the people.
