Afriqiyah Airways has dismissed recent rumours circulating on social media regarding its aircraft, emphasising that all official news is exclusively released through its verified Facebook page.

The airline specifically addressed claims about the alleged crash of one of its older, damaged aircraft, which was affected during the 2014 Tripoli International Airport events.

The company clarified that the mentioned aircraft has been out of service since then and is unfit for flight due to significant damage.

Afriqiyah Airways urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information and to ensure the authenticity of news before dissemination.

It reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accurate communication with its customers and stakeholders.

In August, the Director of International Relations at Afriqiyah Airways, Moaz Ben Ismail, revealed that the company has suffered significant losses due to the wars in 2011, 2014, and 2019, losing seven aircraft with a total value of 800 million dinars. Despite these challenges, the company continues to provide services to its customers.

In an interview with Libya Al-Ahrar TV, Ben Ismail stated that the company currently employs around 1,700 staff members and maintains a qualified workforce, which he cited as a positive indicator of the company’s stability and growth.

He noted that in 2014, the company had 1,400 employees, and by 2024, the number had risen to 1,427.
