The Libyan Administrative Control Authority recently participated in a regional meeting on “Enhancing Business Integrity and Public-Private Sector Partnerships in the Middle East and North Africa.” The event, hosted by the National Anti-Corruption Academy in Cairo from January 14 to 16, brought together key stakeholders to discuss ways to improve business integrity and combat corruption.

Organized in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the League of Arab States, and the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Authority, the meeting focused on fostering partnerships between the public and private sectors to create a more transparent and corruption-free business environment.

Key Topics Discussed: The agenda included several discussion panels addressing:

The importance of strengthening public-private partnerships to enhance business environments.

Incentives for the private sector to take a more active role in combating corruption.

Tools for assessing corruption risks and strategies to overcome shared challenges.

Insights into global initiatives aimed at improving investment climates through governance, transparency, and accountability.

Outcomes and Recommendations: The meeting concluded with several actionable outcomes:

1. Strengthening public-private collaboration to promote integrity standards and combat corruption.

2. Expanding digital services to reduce reliance on paper transactions.

3. Enhancing international cooperation and knowledge exchange to support technical capacity-building.

4. Establishing regular dialogue between anti-corruption bodies and private sector stakeholders.

5. Encouraging anti-corruption authorities to set up investment support units to address investor complaints and remove barriers to business growth.

6. Promoting research and development in governance and anti-corruption practices across both sectors.

The event highlighted the significance of adopting robust governance systems and fostering transparency to improve the investment climate in the region.
