On Tuesday, Libyan Minister of Transport Mohamed Salem Al-Shahoubi and Tunisian Minister of Equipment and Housing Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri held high-level talks in Tunisia to discuss expanding cooperation in infrastructure development, construction, and public works.
The meeting, attended by senior officials from both countries, focused on mobilizing Tunisian expertise and resources to support Libya’s ambitious infrastructure projects.
With Libya prioritizing road networks, bridges, urban planning, and public facilities, Tunisia reaffirmed its readiness to provide skilled professionals, advanced engineering solutions, and high-quality construction services to assist in rebuilding efforts.
The discussions included representatives from leading Tunisian engineering and construction firms, such as SOMATR-GAT, the Arab Tunisian-Libyan Consulting Office, and the Tunisian Highway Company.
Tunisian officials emphasized the longstanding role of Tunisian contractors and consulting firms in Libya’s infrastructure sector, highlighting their contributions to previous large-scale development projects.
Minister Zaafrani Zenzari underscored Tunisia’s commitment to supporting Libya’s reconstruction, stating that both public and private sector companies are prepared to engage in major infrastructure initiatives.
She also affirmed Tunisia’s willingness to form joint ventures and consortia to execute large-scale projects efficiently.
Libya is accelerating efforts to modernize its infrastructure, recognizing that investment in transportation, urban development, and public services is crucial for economic growth and stability.
Tunisian companies, known for their engineering expertise and project management capabilities, are well-positioned to play a major role in Libya’s infrastructure expansion.
