The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Libyan Red Crescent to provide clean drinking water for victims of Storm Daniel in Libya’s Green Mountain region. The initiative will directly benefit 135,721 individuals and indirectly support 32,400 people.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Fourth Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum by Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, KSRelief’s Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programmes, and Omar Joudah, Secretary-General of the Libyan Red Crescent.
Under the project, seven groundwater wells will be rehabilitated, along with the installation of 250 plastic water tanks with a 2,000-litre capacity each. Additionally, 275 water pumps, 1,000 waste collection baskets, and 10,000 hygiene kits will be distributed. The initiative also includes the construction of water stations, drilling 12 new wells, installing 32 water desalination units, and providing three water transport trucks.
The project aims to ensure clean drinking water reaches affected homes, schools, and health centres in disaster-hit areas. KSRelief emphasised that this partnership aligns with Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting recovery efforts in water and environmental sanitation, enhancing quality of life in crisis-affected regions.
