On Monday, the Head of the European Parliament delegation to the Maghreb region, Andrea Cozzolino, called on Europe to help Libya contain the migrant crisis.

According to the Italian news agency ‘Nova’, Cozzolino said that the flow of migrants from Libya must be addressed through a stronger neighbourhood policy. This is to help the country better support economic and social challenges, and help manage migration flows.

On Sunday, Cozzolino and Italian Foreign Minister Luigi di Maio, discussed the sensitive geopolitical situation of North Africa, especially Libya and Tunisia.
They also discussed ways to enhance European action to consolidate peace in those areas, and stabilise the political framework. Cozzolino stressed that efforts to deal with the migrant crisis could no longer be postponed.
