The Head of the Mobilisation Department of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Khaled Al-Mahgoub, claimed that Turkey was training Syrian and foreign mercenaries in Tripoli.

On the 25th of July, Al-Mahgoub unveiled that Syrian fighters transported by Turkey were being merged into the police force by the Ministry of Interior of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA).

The first batch has begun patrolling the capital, after receiving training at Takbali Camp in southern Tripoli.

He said that the interests of the militias in Tripoli were contradictory, with reported clashes breaking out between them. Mahgoub also explained that the conflict is escalating among the militias in Tripoli as each one of them is trying to impose its control over the capital.
