The GNA Municipal Guard has called for strict action to be taken against monopolistic traders in the public and private sectors who have tried to manipulate prices for medical masks.

The Municipal Guard reported that traders have withdrawn masks from the market to export them to countries infected with the Covid-19 virus for financial gains.

In its statement on Sunday, the Municipal Guard said that this matter would affect the public health needs of Libyans, noting that the price of medical masks has already increased due to the decrease in supply.

They called on the concerned authorities to clamp down on these destructive practices by monitoring pharmacies and medical equipment stores to ensure legal measures are taken against perpetrators.
