Five Libyan students tragically lost their lives in a car accident in the eastern city of Al-Bayda, Libya, on Sunday morning. The devastating incident occurred in the Al-Akwam area, shaking the local community and sparking an outpouring of grief across the country.

Libya’s Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba, extended his condolences to the families of the deceased students. In a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Sunday evening, Dbaiba expressed his sorrow over the loss of the young students.
He wrote, “My deepest condolences to the families of Yamen, Yasser, Ahmed Khaled Bosakhra, Abdullah Ashour Khanfar, and Riyadh Hussein Boufatum, whom we tragically lost in a horrific road accident in Al-Bayda.”
Dbaiba described the accident as a “painful tragedy” and offered sympathy to the bereaved families, as well as to all who have lost loved ones in recent road accidents in Libya.

The victims were students at Al-Ghuraika Basic Education School, which operates under the Education Supervision Office in Al-Bayda Municipality. The accident, which involved five students including three siblings, has deeply impacted the local education community.

In response to the tragedy, the Education Supervision Office in Al-Bayda announced official mourning and suspended operations at the office for Monday. However, it confirmed that school exams would continue as scheduled.

This heartbreaking incident highlights ongoing concerns over road safety in Libya, where fatal accidents are frequently reported due to poor infrastructure and traffic regulation challenges.
Local authorities have yet to release further details regarding the cause of the crash.
