Libyan High Council of State Rejects Illegal Migrants Resettlement

In a recent statement, Mohamed Takala, Head of the Libyan High Council of State (HCS), firmly opposed any attempts or proposals aimed at resettling illegal migrants within Libya’s borders. He emphasized that Libya’s security and demographic composition are national constants that cannot be compromised.

The statement highlighted that addressing illegal migration is a shared responsibility among nations and should be managed within the framework of international legal standards. It underscored that Libya cannot shoulder this burden alone. Any attempts to impose a new demographic reality within the country were deemed serious violations of state sovereignty and the rights of its people.

The HCS called for the necessary legal measures to regulate the entry and residence of foreign workers, reiterating its categorical rejection of any efforts to resettle illegal migrants.

The statement also urged media outlets and the community to verify information and avoid spreading rumors that could harm Libya. It stressed that any actions undermining Libya’s sovereignty or threatening its national interests would be unacceptable and would be confronted by all legitimate means.
