Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) will participate in the 10th edition of PetroAfrica, a major energy sector exhibition set to take place in Tunis on 8-9 April 2025. The event, which alternates annually between Libya and Tunisia, will focus on various energy sectors, including fossil fuels, renewables, and green energy.
This year’s edition will also highlight industries related to the energy sector, such as logistics, transportation, smart mobility, traffic management, road infrastructure, and public works. Additionally, clean energy and sustainable urban development will be key themes.
PetroAfrica 2025 is expected to attract 411 public and private energy companies and hopes to welcome around 20,000 visitors. The event is a joint initiative between Tunisia and Libya, with this year’s edition being hosted at the Kram Exhibition Centre in Tunis. The NOC is a key partner in organising the exhibition and will bring several of its subsidiaries and industry experts specialising in oil production and marketing in North Africa.
According to the exhibition’s director, Basma Hamaidi, the event will highlight North Africa’s role in the global energy market. She noted that 50% of exhibitors will come from various countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, India, Singapore, Italy, Algeria, China, France, and sub-Saharan African nations.
The exhibition will feature scientific sessions and lectures by experts in energy and logistics, focusing on the theme “The Road to Green Thinking.” Discussions will centre on transitioning to cleaner energy sources for the sustainability of the sector.
Tunisia, Libya, and Algeria are collaborating on clean energy initiatives through an international committee that includes the NOC, Algeria’s Sonatrach, and the Tunisian Company of Petroleum Activities.
The exhibition will also cover topics such as oil and gas production conditions, green hydrogen, decarbonisation of industrial facilities, carbon footprint measurement, maritime insurance for hazardous product transport, and future smart cities in North Africa. The vision is to develop sustainable, eco-friendly cities by 2050.
