The National Oil Corporation (NOC) of Libya announced the resumption of crude oil production from well B-102 in the Al-Amal Field (V-12), operated by Harouge Oil Operations. The well is now producing at a steady rate of 1,500 barrels per day, marking a significant step in the country’s efforts to boost oil output.

According to a statement released by the NOC, Harouge Oil Operations carried out comprehensive maintenance work on the well, which had been inactive for over 18 months. The maintenance process included a full technical evaluation, advanced analytical procedures, and the supply and installation of a new electric submersible pump.

The successful rehabilitation of the well has restored its operational readiness and ensured production stability, the NOC added. The move is part of a broader strategy by the corporation to raise national oil production by reactivating idle wells and improving infrastructure across key sites.

The NOC emphasised that this achievement aligns with its ongoing production enhancement plan, which is being implemented with direct support and supervision from the company’s board. The goal is to reinforce the resilience of Libya’s oil sector and ensure the optimal use of available resources despite political and logistical challenges.

Oil production is the backbone of Libya’s economy, and any increase in output contributes significantly to state revenues. However, the sector remains vulnerable to disruptions due to conflict, lack of investment, and aging infrastructure.

The reactivation of well B-102 serves as a positive indicator of operational progress and the determination of Libya’s oil institutions to restore capacity and maintain energy stability within the country.
