Libya took part in the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held at the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Libyan delegation was represented by Abdelkarem Abdel-Salam Al-Ghita, Deputy Permanent Representative of Libya to the OIC, and Ramzi Atiya AbuKliesh, Second Secretary at the Libyan mission. Their participation came under the directives of the acting head of Libya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government of National Unity (GNU).

The meeting focused on the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and explored ways to strengthen joint efforts to confront the unprecedented humanitarian crisis in Gaza, caused by Israeli actions of mass killings, starvation, displacement, and siege.

Participants reaffirmed the importance of a united Islamic position to support Palestine and to coordinate international and regional efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of civilians in Gaza.
