A specialized medical team from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has arrived in Sirte, Libya, to launch a kidney transplant program at Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital, marking a major step toward localizing advanced medical treatment in the country.
The team was received by Hospital Director General Ali Al-Jaroushi, his deputy Jadallah Daryaq, along with department heads, consulting physicians, specialists, and the hospital’s dialysis unit staff.
This medical initiative is supported by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, and sponsored by the National Development Agency and Al-Sada Company, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of kidney patients who have been reliant on dialysis for years.
According to Abdullah Nasreddin Ataybiqa, Head of the Media Department at Ibn Sina Hospital, the Jordanian team consists of leading organ transplant surgeons who are set to begin evaluating the 10 targeted patients for kidney transplantation starting tomorrow.
The hospital’s director welcomed the visiting team and emphasized the importance of this step in both enhancing local medical capabilities and empowering national healthcare workers through hands-on training and knowledge exchange.
This initiative is part of a broader medical program backed by the General Command of the Libyan Armed Forces, which aims to expand advanced healthcare services across Libyan cities and reduce dependence on treatment abroad.
