Benghazi University has signed a landmark cooperation agreement with the Arab Pharmacists Union to establish a certified center for awarding specialized pharmacy diplomas and qualifications in Libya.
The agreement was finalized during the visit of Dr. Ali Ibrahim, Secretary-General of the Arab Pharmacists Union, who was welcomed by Dr. Moftah Younis, Vice President of Benghazi University for Medical Faculties Affairs.
Strategic partnership for Libyan pharmacists
The meeting focused on enhancing scientific and professional development opportunities for Libyan pharmacists. Both sides agreed to make Benghazi University the official hub in Libya for awarding advanced certificates issued by the Union, including postgraduate diplomas and subspecialty qualifications in pharmaceutical sciences.
According to the agreement, the certificates will be jointly issued, signed, and stamped by both Benghazi University and the Arab Pharmacists Union, adding high academic and professional value. The university will also contribute to course delivery by teaching at least one subject in each accredited program.
Raising professional standards
This initiative aligns with the Union’s goals and the Arab Council for Pharmaceutical Specialties to raise the academic and professional level of pharmacists across the Arab world, particularly in Libya. The new center is expected to create a culture of continuous pharmaceutical education, empowering Libyan pharmacists to access advanced certifications such as the Arab Board of Pharmacy.
