The Secretary-General of the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Lieutenant General Khairi Al-Tamimi, received the French Military Attaché to Libya and his accompanying delegation at the General Command headquarters in Benghazi.

The meeting focused on enhancing military cooperation between Libya and France, particularly in the fields of counterterrorism, intelligence coordination, and regional security. Both sides emphasized the importance of building strong bilateral defense ties amid ongoing regional and global security challenges.

During the discussions, the French delegation commended the efforts of the General Commander of the Libyan Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, in securing eastern Libya and combating extremist groups. The French attaché acknowledged the Libyan military’s role in improving security conditions and supporting anti-terrorism operations across the country.

Lieutenant General Al-Tamimi reaffirmed the Libyan Armed Forces’ commitment to partnering with international allies to confront terrorism, maintain border security, and protect national sovereignty. He noted that cooperation with European countries like France is essential in building a stable and secure Libya.

This visit is part of a wider framework of Franco-Libyan defense dialogue aimed at enhancing mutual understanding and exploring areas of joint strategic interest. It also reflects France’s growing engagement in North Africa, especially in areas related to counterterrorism, intelligence sharing, and migration control.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue technical consultations and coordination on security matters, with a focus on capacity-building and operational support where appropriate.
