On Friday, Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar held a telephone conversation with his British counterpart, Ben Wallace. They discussed bilateral relations and regional issues, primarily developments in Libya and the eastern Mediterranean.

Earlier on Friday, Akar met with the Interior Minister of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bashagha, in Ankara. They exchanged views on the most recent developments in Libya.

Akar stressed that the Turkish armed forces are supervising the rehabilitation of the Libyan forces in the training centres they have established. He also called for people “not to exaggerate the matter.”

The Prime Minister of the GNA, Fayez Al-Sarraj, announced his intention to conduct an immediate cabinet reshuffle in response to protests. Al-Sarraj also reiterated his call for general elections next March.
