The Head of Libya’s High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Dr. Emad Al-Sayeh, met on Wednesday with Germany’s Chargé d’Affaires in Libya, Daniel Schimske, and his accompanying delegation at the Commission’s headquarters in Tripoli to discuss the progress of the ongoing electoral process.

In a statement, the Commission said the meeting focused on developments related to the implementation of the 2025 municipal council elections (Group 3) and the efforts being made by HNEC to ensure that all stages are conducted according to the highest standards of integrity and transparency.

Discussions also covered prospects for technical and advisory cooperation between the Commission and the German side in support of the electoral process.

Schimske reaffirmed Germany’s continued support for the High National Elections Commission, praising the professional procedures it applies in managing and organizing electoral events and its crucial role in advancing Libya’s democratic path.

For his part, Al-Sayeh expressed the Commission’s appreciation for Germany’s sustained assistance in supporting election programs, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation to strengthen HNEC’s institutional capacity and ensure the success of the upcoming electoral milestones.
