In a press interview on Monday, the head of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar, stated that the curfew measures are no longer useful. He explained that the average citizen is no longer committed to the preventive measures set by the government.

Al-Najjar explained that the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases is a result of the failed implementation of precautionary measures, and citizens’ lack of awareness. Importantly, citizen awareness was necessary for people to adequately protect themselves by wearing masks, regularly disenfecting and washing their hands.

The number of infections in the country has reached 13,423 cases, 1,410 recoveries, and 232 deaths. This is after recording 465 new positive cases in 27 cities.
