The Benghazi Security Directorate has announced that all major squares and public areas across the city are fully secured as authorities prepare for potential demonstrations. The Directorate confirmed that security units have completed their deployments to ensure citizens can exercise their right to peaceful protest in line with Libyan law.

In its statement, the Benghazi Security Directorate stressed that no acts of vandalism, rioting, or disturbances will be tolerated, warning against any behaviour that could endanger public safety or damage public and private property. Officials said the Street Discipline Unit and all supporting divisions remain on 24-hour standby to manage any gatherings, maintain order, and guarantee the free movement of residents.

Authorities urged citizens to uphold civil behaviour during demonstrations, emphasising that responsible and peaceful participation is essential to protecting the city’s stability and the safety of its residents. The Directorate reiterated that its priority is to safeguard Benghazi’s security while ensuring that lawful public expression can take place without disruption.
