Seventeen Egyptian companies specialising in pharmaceutical industries and military medical supplies have taken part in a major industry event in Libya, marking a new phase of expansion for Egyptian firms in the Libyan market. The strong presence reflects growing commercial momentum between the two countries and rising Libyan demand for medical products and health-sector partnerships.
The Egyptian pavilion was inaugurated in Libya Healthcare Expo in Tripoli, in the presence of several senior Libyan officials, including Fitouri Issa bin Ramadan, Director of the National Centre for Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management; Hind Shoubar, adviser to the Presidential Council; and Ahmed Abdullah Badi, Director of Media at the Ministry of Health. Also attending were Hisham Al-Bari, Deputy Head of Mission and senior representative of the World Health Organization, in addition to Mahmoud Al-Fetisi, Director General of the National Council for Economic and Social Development. Abdullah Juweid, Director of Misrata Oncology Centre, and Hamza Jumaa Yahya, Director of Sabha Oncology Centre, were also present.
According to Expo Consultant International, the organiser of the Egyptian pavilion in coordination with Egypt’s Export Council for Medical Industries, nearly 90% of the participating Egyptian companies successfully concluded agreements with Libyan agents and distributors. The outcome underscores the strong demand in Libya, which remains one of the most promising regional markets for Egyptian pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.
This year’s participation comes amid a notable increase in Egypt’s medical export activity.
Many companies are seeking to reinforce their presence in the Libyan market, benefiting from geographical proximity and expanding economic ties between the two nations.
Egyptian firms view Libya as a key gateway for regional commercial growth, particularly as Libyan authorities continue to prioritise the development of healthcare infrastructure and the sourcing of reliable medical supplies.
