Royal Jordanian Airlines will resume flights to Misrata International Airport on 15 January, restoring a key regional air link and expanding travel options for Libyan passengers. Misrata Airport confirmed that the carrier will operate two weekly flights, reconnecting the city with Amman and enabling onward travel to a wide range of international destinations.
Airport officials described the decision as “a new phase of openness and activity” that will ease travel for residents and broaden mobility across regional and global routes. The return of Royal Jordanian to Misrata is part of a broader expansion of the airline’s operations in Libya after years of disruption caused by security and political instability.
The airline has steadily rebuilt its Libyan network over the past two years. Benina International Airport in Benghazi welcomed Royal Jordanian’s first flight in January 2025 after a prolonged suspension, marking the company’s initial step back into the Libyan aviation market. In July 2024, the carrier resumed services to Tripoli’s Mitiga International Airport following nearly a decade of absence.
The relaunch of flights to Misrata strengthens Libya’s connectivity at a time when airports in the east and west are undergoing gradual revival, supported by improved coordination with regional carriers. The move is expected to benefit business travellers, students, and families who rely on Amman as a transit hub.
Aviation observers note that Libya’s gradual re-integration into regional air networks signals increasing confidence from international airlines, despite ongoing political divisions. The return of Royal Jordanian to three major Libyan airports underscores the growing demand for reliable connections and the importance of Libya’s aviation sector in supporting trade, mobility, and economic recovery.
