Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), met with Major General Al‑Mabrouk Sahban, Commander of the Sebha Military Zone, at the General Command headquarters in Benghazi.

The meeting focused on assessing the overall security and military situation in southern Libya, with a detailed review of deployed units’ performance and preparedness to carry out assigned missions. Discussions also addressed key security challenges in the region, including the protection of strategic areas, maintaining internal stability, and supporting ongoing operations.

Saddam Haftar commended the efforts of military units operating in the south, praising their role in enhancing security despite difficult operational conditions. He reaffirmed the General Command’s full support for forces stationed in the region. He stressed its commitment to providing the necessary logistical, technical, and operational resources to ensure they can perform their duties effectively and professionally.

The talks come as the Libyan National Army (LNA) continues to prioritize southern Libya due to its strategic importance, geographic depth, and proximity to international borders. Military leadership views the region as critical to national security, particularly in efforts to combat cross-border crime, smuggling, and security threats.

Officials emphasized that maintaining stability in the south remains a central component of broader security plans aimed at strengthening state authority and preserving national cohesion.
