The city of Benghazi on Tuesday hosted the opening of the International Blended Scientific Forum on Sustainable Education, organized by University of Benghazi in cooperation with the National Center for Media and Communication Research, the Biler Center for Crisis Management and Scientific Research, and the BRC International Scientific Foundation.
Held under the theme “Knowledge Integration: Towards Sustainable Education and a Stable Future,” the forum brings together academics and experts from across the Arab world to discuss the future of education amid rapid digital and global transformations.
The forum aims to strengthen scientific research and promote the exchange of expertise at both local and international levels, while addressing the growing challenges facing education in the digital age. Organizers highlighted the importance of linking knowledge production with practical application as a cornerstone of sustainable education systems.
Discussions focus on the evolving role of academic and media institutions in developing innovative educational strategies capable of responding to technological change, social transformation, and labor market needs. The event also seeks to reinforce cooperation between universities, research centers, and media institutions in shaping future-oriented education policies.
The forum’s agenda is structured around four main themes: digitalization and smart transformation in education; the role of media management in supporting sustainable education; knowledge equity and access to information; and professional responsibility and ethics within the educational process.
Forum Chair Dr. Salima Hassan Zidan, a faculty member at the Faculty of Media at the University of Benghazi, said the event is being held in a blended format, combining in-person and online participation. She noted that researchers and specialists from several Arab countries are taking part, with 12 academic papers selected according to rigorous scientific standards.
The opening session was attended by the Deputy Head of the Education Affairs Committee of the Libyan House of Representatives, along with a number of academics and education experts. Participants stressed the importance of the forum in strengthening academic cooperation and enhancing Libya’s position in regional and international discussions on sustainable education.
