Interim Government Partially lifts Curfew

On Monday, the eastern-based Libyan Interim Government announced the partial lifting of its daily curfew. The new hours are to be from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. every day.

This decision was announced during a meeting between the Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni, and the Chairman of the Supreme Committee to Combat Coronavirus, Lieutenant General Abdel-Razek Al-Nathouri. The meeting also included the Chief of the General Staff, the Minister of the Interior, Ibrahim Boushnaf, and the Minister of Health, Saad Agoub.

According to a statement, the meeting assessed the epidemiological situation, in addition to the latest precautionary and preventive measures. The meeting also stressed the need for all commercial and economic activities to provide face masks to customers and visitors. Fines will be given to violators in case these measures are not respected.

Al-Thinni called on the citizens to adhere to social distancing, and the conditions provided by the specialized technical committees in order to prevent the spread of the epidemic.
