Libya’s National Center of Meteorology has issued a warning over unstable weather conditions expected to affect wide areas of the country, particularly in the north and east.
The forecast includes thunderstorms, varying levels of rainfall that may become heavy, and strong winds that could increase the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.
According to the center, the northeastern regions will see the most intense conditions on Wednesday. The affected areas include the stretch from Brega to Ajdabiya, as well as Benghazi, Al-Marj, Derna, and Emsaed.
The Green Mountain region and nearby areas are also expected to experience dense thundercloud activity accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain in some locations.
Meteorologists warned that these conditions may lead to water accumulation in streets and residential areas, in addition to the flow of seasonal valleys. This raises the possibility of localized flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage or near natural waterways. Residents have been advised to exercise caution and avoid areas at risk during periods of heavy rainfall.
In the western and central regions, the weather is expected to remain relatively cool, with chances of light and intermittent rain. Conditions are forecast to improve gradually later in the day, as clouds begin to clear from the western parts of the country before easing across the east.
The center also indicated that a fast-moving low-pressure system is expected on Friday, bringing a drop in temperatures and renewed cloud cover. This system may produce scattered rainfall in parts of the northwest and southwest, with its effects extending to eastern regions by Saturday.
Despite the current instability, weather conditions are expected to become more stable starting Thursday, with moderate daytime temperatures, particularly in northwestern areas.
