LNA Spokesperson Instructs LNA to Protect Protesters

The Spokesperson for the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, reiterated “the armed forces’ pledge to protect the protesters” and reminded all that this pledge serves “to deny the opportunity for those who wish to infiltrate and divert the demonstration from its course.”

During a press conference Sunday, Al-Mismari called for the international community to take strict measures against militias and mercenaries, who have looted and wreaked havoc in Libya.

He added that the LNA was following the events closely and affirmed the people’s right to demonstrate. He stressed that the LNA stands by the people in order to achieve their just demands.

Al-Mismari urged the protesters to demonstrate in squares during broad daylight, so that they can be protected. He asserted that adherence to these steps will deny the opportunity, for saboteurs and opponents of the state, to destroy and loot public and private property.
