Government of National Accord (GNA) Prime Minister Fayez Al-Sarraj will not meet with Commander of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, said the GNA spokesperson on Monday.

The GNA Spokesperson, Ghaleb Al-Zaqlali, refuted claims that the two rival leaders would meet after the French website IntelligenceOnline published a report about the meeting.

“Al-Sarraj will not meet Haftar, neither in the near nor the distant future,” Zaqlali confirmed in a statement.

IntelligenceOnline has claimed that Paris will host a Libyan summit on Thursday, 17 September, bringing together Al-Sarraj and Haftar.

The French website stated that the summit aims to deepen the discussions that began in Bouznika, Morocco.

The French website said that the meeting will be moderated by Elysée advisers, Emmanuel Bonne and Patrick Soler.

Notably, the GNA declared a ceasefire in August, which was also agreed by the LNA.
