The Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulhadi al-Hwaij chaired a preparatory meeting for the second Sirte conference, which will be held in Sirte on 10 October.
The preparatory meeting was attended by Sheikhs from tribes of various regions in Libya, as well as clerics and members of civil society institutions.
Other than political and social figures, the event was attended by a group of jurists, lawyers, and university professors. Women, youth, people with special needs, representatives of war victims and relatives of war-wounded victims were also present at the meeting.
Al-Hwaij expressed his happiness for the wide attendance of the meeting, which reflects the Libyan people’s seriousness in ending their suffering, with all its pains, discord, and tragedies.
He pointed out that this meeting contributes to paving the path of reconciliation and raising the flag of peace, which is the basis for the success of the work of the second Sirte conference.
During the meeting, the attendees were briefed on the conference document. The speeches were given to the attendees, most of which focused on the most important points that help in the success of this historic national event.
They stressed the need to come up with executive recommendations from the conference. That will reflect the highest levels of seriousness among the attendees, in order for the conference to produce what would save the country and the Libyan people from this tragic situation.
