Despite the fact that Libya is yet to confirm any cases of COVID-19, the government has taken strict measures to prevent an outbreak of the virus inside the country.

On Thursday, Abdullah al-Thani, the Prime Minister of Libya’s eastern-based Interim Government, ordered a monthly financial bonus for all medical professionals who are working to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (commonly known as Coronavirus). The incentive scheme includes a monthly per capita bonus of 10,000 LYD for doctors, 7,000 LYD for nurses and 5,000 LYD for administrative personnel.

Prime Minister al-Thani said that this decision was made in light of the current state of emergency to address the Coronavirus pandemic.
