The head of the investigations department of the Libyan Attorney General’s office, Siddiq Ahmed Assour, sent a letter to the Minister of Health of the Government of National Accord (GNA), in which he revealed corruption in the procurement committee for confronting the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Attorney General’s Office issued instructions to stop any financial transactions related to the Coronavirus’ response due to financial abuse that affected the Coronavirus Procurement Committee.

In the letter, Assour told the GNA health minister to stop any financial transactions related to the payment of financial values for the advisory committee to confront the Coronavirus.

Recently, the Libyan supervisory authorities have arrested several officials. The charges are mostly related to corruption and theft of public funds.
