The Steering Council of Sidra Municipality agreed to provide support to the families affected by the torrents that struck the residential city of Ras Lanuf, in northern Libya.

The compensation will be carried out during the current week after the damages are counted by the Municipal Council and the Social Affairs Office.

The council held a series of meetings in Ras Lanuf with many local bodies. They agreed on providing the emergency committee of the Ras Lanuf Company with some heavy machinery to open paths and reduce the force of the torrents’ rush towards the city.

The council agreed with Oil Crescent on continuous coordination should it be necessary to support the Libyan National Army to facilitate traffic and organise the work of the committees.

The council confirmed that the Security Directorate’s men are continuously working on facilitating movement on the highway.

The statement confirmed that the Ministry of Social Affairs will provide support to the affected families during this week. The council thanked the firefighters and all those who helped transport and assist the affected families.

The council appealed to the responsible authorities to provide support to the municipality areas that were affected by the torrential rains.
