Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the Libyan settlement must include all major political forces, from all regions of the country. He stressed that Moscow has been in contact with all Libyan parties for years.

During a meeting with Ageela Saleh, the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Lavrov added that Libya was seeing calmer times in light of the recently agreed ceasefire.

“The sooner the post-conflict settlement is completed and normal life begins, the quicker we will be able to resume bilateral cooperation in all areas: energy, transport infrastructure, as well as economic and investment projects in general for the benefit of our peoples”, Lavrov said.

The Russian Foreign Minister pointed out that Saleh’s meeting with the Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez al-Sarraj, last August played an important role in re-launching the political process. He added that this process “is still continuing and developing at a faster pace”.
