Erdogan “Proud of Victories” in Libya

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his deep pride at what he described as the “victories” achieved by the Turkish forces in Libya and Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh region.

In a video message published Thursday on the occasion of the New Year, Erdogan reviewed the most important Turkish achievements in 2020.

“Turkey supported the Government of National Accord (GNA) and thus thwarted the imperial designs there,” Erdogan claimed. “We have blocked the way for the coup efforts to control Tripoli, which contributed to launching the efforts for a political solution in the country,” he proclaimed.

Erdogan’s statements came in light of Turkish military cargo planes continuing to send weapons and mercenaries to Libya to support GNA forces.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) indicated that Turkey has transferred more than 18,000 mercenaries from Syria to western Libya, including former fighters of ISIS and Al-Qaeda.
