Lavrov Criticizes US Actions in Libya

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov criticized the behaviour of Washington and its allies in Libya, Iraq, and Syria, likening their actions to “an elephant in a store selling dishes.” He claimed this negative behaviour would lead to dire consequences for the region.

In a press conference with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, Lavrov expressed his rejection of interfering in the internal affairs of sovereign countries and “imposing ideological prescriptions and schemes on them from abroad.”

Lavrov reiterated his support for launching a comprehensive political process in Libya, with the participation of all parties. He noted that the vacant position of a UN envoy to Libya did not contribute to reaching a political solution, and expressed hope for the appointment of a special envoy soon.
