Speaker of Libyan Parliament, Ageela Saleh called on all members of Parliament to attend a consultative session on Monday.

In a letter, he indicated that the session will be devoted to setting the necessary arrangements to approve the new interim government, as soon as the cabinet formation is completed.

On 5 February, members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) elected a new Prime Minister and a new Presidency Council during a voting session in Geneva. Mohamed Al-Menfi was elected as President, while Hamid Dabiba was named as Prime Minister. This transitional government will lead the country until national elections scheduled on 24 December 2021.

“My government will work to establish peace in Libya, and solve the major problems facing the country,” Dabiba said.

He added that the election of an interim authority by the LPDF, “will serve the best interests of Libya and its people. The 75-member forum was made up of members representing all geographical regions, tribes, and segments of Libyan society,” he said.
