The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) announced on Monday that a further five Syrian fighters were killed during fighting in Libya, bringing their total death toll to 156. The fighters are aligned with the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA).

According to the SOHR, the fighters belonged to the following Syrian armed groups: al-Mu’tasim Division, Sultan Murad, Suqur Al-Shamal Brigade, Al-Hamzat, and Suleiman Shah.

SOHR sources report that the fighters were killed in heavy clashes along the frontlines of Salah Al-Din in southern Tripoli, Al Ramlah near Tripoli Airport, Al-Hadabah district in Tripoli and Misrata city.

The SOHR also reported that Turkey, which facilitated the recruitment and organised the deployment of Syrian fighters to Libya, has had to reduce their salaries as the number of recruits has exceeded its original goal of 6000 fighters.
