On Wednesday, Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Jan Kubis met with Libya’s Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush at the ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli.

The two sides reiterated the need to respect Libya’s sovereignty, as well as the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement. They also called for the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries without delay, as requested by the Security Council.

Al-Mangoush highlighted the need for the withdrawal of all foreign forces within “a clear framework and timeline.” She elaborated on the need for a comprehensive Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration programme (DDR) for the country, in order to bring all the arms under the control of the state.

UNSMIL said in a statement that Kubis and Al-Mangoush agreed on strengthening UN-Libyan cooperation, through facilitating humanitarian support to irregular migrants and refugees and working on their voluntary repatriation and resettlement.
