On Monday, Tunisian Foreign Minister Othman Al-Jerandi discussed the ongoing situation in Libya, during a telephone call with his American counterpart, Antony Blinken.
During the call, the two ministers discussed the need to support the efforts of Libyans to complete the political track, “which will positively affect Libya and the entire Mediterranean region.” Blinken appreciated Tunisia’s efforts in restoring stability to the region. He affirmed his keenness to work with Tunis to find sustainable solutions in Libya.
Earlier this month, Blinken reiterated US support for Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU), “at the G7, the US renewed support for the Libyan government to hold December 2021 elections and for the immediate withdrawal of foreign forces,” Secretary Blinken tweeted.
