LNA: Libyan Hostage Abducted in 2018 Reunited with Family

On Sunday, the Military Information Division, of the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) said that Ashraf Msallam, a Libyan engineer who had been abducted in 2018, has been successfully reunited with his family.

Units belonging to the LNA managed to free him and a Romanian national, Valentin-Laurentiu Puscasu. Both were kidnapped by gunmen on July 14, 2018.

In an interview at the headquarters of the Tariq bin Ziyad battalion of the LNA, Msallam praised the efforts of the General Command and expressed his utmost gratitude for rescuing him, two years after being kidnapped.

The Romanian Consul to Libya Adrian Brâncoveanu, on November 5, 2018, met with National Oil Corporation (NOC) Chairman Mustafa Sanalla to discuss measures to free the two employees.

The NOC Chairman, stressed that the Board of Directors would continue to push for a speedy resolution and their rightful return to safety.
