In a meeting with the relevant authorities, the Health Minister for Libya’s eastern-based Interim Government, Saad Agoub, reviewed how to install the necessary medical capabilities in all ports of entry into the country. These include quarantine facilities and isolation rooms to reduce the risk of COVID-19 in the country.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Medical Advisory Committee, Fathia Al-Uraibi, and the Director of the Office of the Minister of Health, Tariq Nuh.

The officials discussed the implementation of such measure, as well as how to coordinate with ambulance services to transfer suspected cases to hospitals for treatment.

Agoub was briefed on the technical procedures used by the monitoring, investigation and rapid response teams to diagnose suspected cases, as well as how to isolate and treat them.

The Minister also touched upon the implementation of strict measures on drug control, application of occupational safety standards and workflow in conducting medical examinations and early detection of COVID-19.

Agoub praised the measures taken by the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA). He also thanked the Ministry of Interior for cooperating with the Ministry of Health in tackling the pandemic.
