The Official Spokesman of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, said that the continued presence of mercenaries and foreign forces in Libya threatens its peace and security, and contradicts the outcomes of Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF).
In press statements, Al-Mismari warned of the possibility of using those forces militarily in case of the Muslim Brotherhood group’s failure to win the upcoming elections, scheduled for December 2021.
He also stressed that the LNA’s General Command supports the holding of elections on December 24th and welcomes the LPDF outcomes in Geneva.
Al-Mismari noted that they have repeatedly called on Libyans to register their votes for the upcoming elections, saying, “our mission is to deliver the people of Libya to the ballot box safely and fairly.”
The Spokesman pointed out that the LNA welcomes the outcomes of the 5 + 5 Joint Military Commission (JMC), which calls for the withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries from the North African country and the abolition of all military agreements.
He stressed the need to achieve a comprehensive and complete settlement, calling on all political powers to respect the JMC’s decisions that aim to end decade-long chaos.
Al-Mismari pointed out that no Libyan citizen should be excluded from running for the upcoming elections. He stressed the importance of ensuring international monitoring for the electoral process.
