A Turkish drone deployed by the Government of National Accord (GNA) has targeted on Sunday a number of medical staff and an ambulance near Bani Walid, in western Libya.

This is not the first time that Turkey has indirectly targeted medical and food supplies provided by the eastern-based Interim Governnent to fight off the outbreak of Covid-19. On April 3rd, a Turkish aircraft struck a flour and foodstuff warehouse in the Western Mountains region. These attacks come at a time when the stockpiling of commodities is at an all-time high in the country, due to fears of an epidemic.

The airstrike destroyed a large number of supplies and wounded nine workers and civilians, near the warehouse.

On April 2nd, Turkish drones launched several airstrikes targeting three trucks loaded with fuel and ammunition near the city of Bani Walid in Libya.

In a statement, the media office of the GNA-led Burkan Al-Ghadab (“Volcano of Rage”) Operation said that their forces targeted three trucks in Southern Bani Walid that were on their way to supply LNA forces in the south of Tripoli.

The GNA Military Spokesperson announced that these attacks are part of an operation to cut off supply lines to the Libyan National Army (LNA).
