Libya Plans To Return Citizens Stranded in Ukraine

The Libyan Embassy in Kiev has begun implementing quarantine procedures for Libyan families stuck in Ukraine.

This is in preparation for their return to Libya after completing all necessary procedures requested by the Libyan authorities.

This step comes within the framework laid out by Embassy’s crisis committee, created for citizens who have been stranded due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The recommendations were made by the Supreme Crisis Committee in Libya, in coordination with the Ukrainian Ministry of Health.

The Commission has already started the process of housing Libyans after conducting medical examinations for COVID-19.

Families that have entered quarantine are being provided all necessities to ensure their safety and alleviate any financial difficulties.

On April 19, the Prime Minister of the Interim Government, Abdullah Al-Thini, discussed the final arrangements for the return of Libyan citizens stranded in several countries as a result of the pandemic.

He confirmed that citizens returning from abroad would have to self quarantine for a minimum of 14 days.

Prime Minister Al-Thini stressed that the Interim Government would work to provide accommodation for those stranded abroad, as well as ensure the provision of basic services until the end of the crisis.
