The Libyan National Army (LNA) called upon the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to monitor rumors circulating online about the alleged use of chemical weapons in the Salah Al-Din axis.
“We call upon everyone involved in the Libyan crisis and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to monitor this closely, and we are ready to conduct an international investigation” stated Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, spokesman for the LNA.
The LNA has claimed that these false rumors were being spread to sway public opinion and allow the Turkish Air Force to formally intervene in Libya to support the Government of National Accord (GNA). Al-Mismari claims that Ankara has previously used this tactic in Syria to gain the international community’s blessing to intervene in the conflict.
