Prices for the US dollar and several other foreign‌ currencies slightly increased against the Libyan dinar (LYD) during Saturday’s transactions in Libya’s black market.

The dollar rose to 5.98 LYD on Saturday instead of 5.90 LYD on Thursday, achieving an increase of eight piasters, meanwhile the Euro and the Pound Sterling both rose by four piasters, hitting 6.50 LYD and 7.37 LYD respectively.

The Turkish lira also rose by two piasters, registering 0.84 against the Libyan dinar, while the Tunisian dinar remained stable during today’s transactions at 2.05 LYD.

The ongoing oil blockade, coupled with foreign interference and the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, have all served to prolong the conflict in Libya.

These factors have severely undermined the country’s fiscal revenue and economic growth.
